What Interviews by AI Is

These facts come from interviewsby.ai, checked on 27 October 2026.

  • Start from a job description, a bank of common interview questions, or questions you bring yourself.
  • Answer out loud or in writing, with a timer.
  • Get a score breakdown on structure, specificity, delivery and filler words, scored against STAR and other frameworks, plus a stronger version of your answer.
  • Upload your resume, and feedback can point to experience you forgot to mention.
  • Saved sessions show whether your next attempt is stronger.
  • Audio is deleted immediately after transcription, according to the site.
  • Free plan: 3 questions a month. Pro: $9 a month for unlimited questions. The site says it is trusted by 150,000+ job seekers.

How to Get the Most From It

  • Paste the real job description, not a generic title. The questions are only as specific as the input.
  • Always answer out loud, even though typing is allowed. The interview is spoken.
  • Upload your resume, so the feedback can point to stories you forgot.
  • Repeat the same question after reading the rewrite, in your own words. Don't memorise the AI's version.
  • Check your recording against 20 common English mistakes in tech interviews.

What an AI Scorer Cannot Check

  • Whether your technical answer holds up. An AI scorer can check that your answer has a structure. It cannot question your design the way an engineer would: “What happens when this queue backs up?”
  • Whether you sound senior. Saying “I decided” instead of “we tried”, or naming a trade-off before you are asked, changes how an interviewer reads your level.
  • Which English mistakes matter. Some mistakes an interviewer ignores; others change your meaning. A coach who works in tech knows the difference.
  • Real pressure. Talking to a person who interrupts you is different from talking to software.

Interviews by AI's own FAQ says its feedback “isn't perfect”. That is honest, and it is true of every AI scorer.

How the Prices Compare

How you pay (as of October 2026)

  • Interviews by AI: free for 3 questions a month; Pro is $9 a month, cancel any time.
  • Mockly: a free 30-minute trial with a coach on Google Meet. No card and no subscription.
  • Mockly: live 60-minute 1:1 sessions are pay-as-you-go. One session is $50; packs of 5 ($237.50), 10 ($450) or 20 ($850) cost less per session. Credits last 12 months and work with either coach.
  • Mockly: Premium is the self-study course at $9.99/month, or $59.99/year, with a 7-day free trial. It does not include a coaching session and you do not need it to book one.

For one specific job, a month of Pro plus one or two coached sessions before the loop is a common, affordable mix.

Interviews by AI and Mockly: Pros and Cons

Interviews by AI

PROS: questions from your real job description; spoken practice with a timer; STAR-based scoring and rewritten answers; resume-aware notes; audio not stored; cheap Pro plan. CONS: free plan is only 3 questions a month; no human; no live coding or system design rounds; no follow-up questions like a real interviewer.

Mockly

PROS: a human engineer runs real tech interview rounds and asks follow-ups; feedback on both structure and English; drill list after every session; free 30-minute trial with no card. CONS: $50 per hour; booked sessions, not unlimited practice; two coaches, so fewer slots.

Verdict

Interviews by AI is a cheap, focused way to rehearse the questions one job is likely to ask. Add Mockly for technical rounds and for a human who corrects your English under pressure.

FAQ

Questions

Interviews by AI's site says the free plan includes 3 questions a month, and Pro is $9 a month for unlimited questions, resume upload and longer response times, cancellable any time (checked 27 October 2026).

You paste a job description, pick common interview questions or bring your own. You answer out loud or in writing with a timer, then get a score breakdown against STAR and other frameworks, notes on filler words and delivery, and a stronger version of your answer.

Its site says audio recordings are deleted immediately after transcription and never stored. If you log in, your interview history is saved to your dashboard.

It is useful for behavioural questions taken from a real job description. It does not run live coding or system design rounds, so pair it with a peer mock platform or a coach for the technical rounds.

Both score spoken answers. Interviews by AI centres on questions generated from a job description, with 3 free questions a month. Huru says all its job-seeker features are free and adds a live AI interviewer. Try both and keep the one whose feedback you act on.
