Quick Answer
Google Interview Warmup is no longer available: its page now redirects to a general Grow with Google article, which suggests Gemini Live for practice. The closest free replacements are Huru (free AI mock interviews with scored feedback) and Gemini Live. For tech roles, Exponent Practice offers free peer mock interviews, and Mockly offers a free 30-minute trial with an engineer-coach who corrects your English.

What Happened to Google Interview Warmup
When we checked on 27 October 2026, grow.google/interview-warmup no longer opened the tool. It redirected to a Grow with Google article called “How to prepare for an interview”. That article suggests practising with Gemini Live, which it describes as a way to “simulate a real-time, conversational interview”.
Several reports say Google retired Interview Warmup in April 2026. Google has not announced a direct replacement inside Grow with Google.

If you bookmarked Interview Warmup, the link still works, but it takes you to the article, not the practice tool.
What Interview Warmup Did (and Didn't Do)
Interview Warmup launched in 2022 as a free, no-login practice tool. It was simple, and that was its strength.
| What it did | What it didn't do |
|---|---|
| Asked real interview questions for a few fields (such as data analytics, IT support, UX design and project management) plus general questions | Cover coding or system design rounds |
| Let you answer out loud or by typing | Score whether your answer was good |
| Showed a transcript and insights such as most-used words and job-related terms | Correct grammar or pronunciation |
| Cost nothing and needed no account | Follow up on your answer, the way an interviewer does |
So the right replacement depends on what you used it for: low-pressure speaking practice, feedback on answers, or preparing for a specific kind of interview.
The Alternatives, Compared
| Tool | Format | Price | Best for |

| Gemini Live | General voice AI you can ask to interview you | Included in the Gemini app | Quick spoken practice with Google's tools |
| Interviews by AI | Questions from a job description, answered out loud, scored against STAR | Free for 3 questions a month; Pro $9/month | Practising for one specific job post |
| Yoodli | AI roleplay with delivery feedback (pace, fillers) | Free Starter tier is limited; paid plans | Delivery and filler words |
| Exponent Practice (Pramp) | Live peer mock interviews | Free with a monthly limit | Technical rounds with another candidate |

Interview Warmup was built around Google Career Certificate fields. If you are a software engineer, data engineer or data analyst, it never practised the rounds that decide your offer:
- Coding rounds: thinking out loud while you solve, and explaining complexity. Practise with a peer on Exponent Practice, or with a coach.
- System design: requirements first, then trade-offs, while the interviewer pushes back. Hello Interview's Live Practice is an AI option; see Mockly vs Hello Interview.
- Behavioural rounds: STAR stories with a result and a number. Huru and Interviews by AI both score structure; see behavioural interview stories in English.
If English Is Not Your First Language
Many people used Interview Warmup because it was a safe place to hear themselves speak English. That job still matters. A sensible plan now:
- Use a free AI tool most days for speaking volume. Huru gives feedback on grammar and articulation.
- Record your answers and check them against our list of 20 English mistakes in tech interviews.
- Before a real loop, practise with a person who interrupts you and corrects what matters. Book Mockly's free 30-minute trial to find out where to focus.
What software still cannot check for you:
- Whether your technical answer holds up. An AI scorer can check that your answer has a structure. It cannot question your design the way an engineer would: “What happens when this queue backs up?”
- Whether you sound senior. Saying “I decided” instead of “we tried”, or naming a trade-off before you are asked, changes how an interviewer reads your level.
- Which English mistakes matter. Some mistakes an interviewer ignores; others change your meaning. A coach who works in tech knows the difference.
- Real pressure. Talking to a person who interrupts you is different from talking to software.
Verdict
For a free, low-pressure replacement, start with Huru or Gemini Live. For a tech interview in English, add live practice with a person: a peer on Exponent Practice for volume, or a Mockly coach for corrections.
