What One Hour With a Human Costs
The cleanest comparison is the price of one hour with a person, because that is the expensive part of interview preparation.
- Mockly: $50 for 60 minutes, or $47.50, $45 or $42.50 an hour in packs of 5, 10 or 20.
- IGotAnOffer: at about $50 a credit and 2 to 5 credits an hour, roughly $100 to $250 an hour, depending on the coach. Larger credit packs cost less per credit.
- MentorCruise: a one-off 60-minute Interview Preparation session starts at $149.
- PrepFully: about $89 to $399 a session, set by each coach.
- Talaera: a $50 trial lesson; after that, 1:1 coaching is sold as a 3- or 6-month programme rather than by the hour.
Insight
Expert marketplaces price by the coach's employer and seniority: an hour with a manager from a top tech company costs more. English coaching for interviews prices by the session, because the value is in correcting how you say things, which you need several times, not once.
Three Budgets for One Interview Loop
These plans use only the prices above. They assume a typical tech loop with a coding round, a system design round and a behavioural round, in English.
| Budget | What to buy | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Mockly free 30-minute trial to find your main English habits; Huru or Interviews by AI's free tier for behavioural reps; EngineerSpeak's free session for technical questions; Mockly's free Mini Apps | $0 |
| About $240 | A Mockly 5-pack: one session per round type, plus two repeats of your weakest round | $237.50 |
| About $500–$700 | A Mockly 10-pack ($450) for English and structure, plus one expert mock on IGotAnOffer or MentorCruise in the final week for company insight | $450 plus $100–$250 |
If English is the main thing holding you back, spend most of the budget where your English gets corrected. A single expensive mock tells you that communication was unclear; it rarely has time to fix it.
How to Pay Less
- Use free trials first. Mockly's 30-minute trial is free with no card, and several AI tools have a free tier.
- Buy a pack only after the trial. Packs lower the price per session, but only if you will use them. Mockly credits last 12 months.
- Ask your employer. Training budgets often cover language and communication coaching. Talaera, for example, says many of its learners are reimbursed and provides proof of enrolment.
- Use AI for volume, people for judgement. Practise answers daily with a free tool, and save paid hours for full mock rounds.
- Fix your stories before you pay. Free tools like the STAR story rewriter and tech interview English check catch the obvious problems, so paid time goes on the hard ones.
Is Interview Coaching Worth It?
It depends on what is in your way. If you know the material but your answers come out unclear, slow or unsure in English, a few hours with a coach who corrects your phrasing in context is usually the quickest fix. If your gap is technical, a course or an expert mock is a better use of money. If you are not sure, a free trial session will show you which one it is.
